Kamwangi is one of the two washing stations in the New Ngariama Cooperative Society in Kirinyaga (Central Kenya), and over 72% of all coffee production in this region comes from smallholder farmers.
Each year the mill's manager Edwin Gichuki trains his professional skills in a Coffee Management Services (CMS) - local firm, providing assistance and technical advisory help to the smallholder farmers. The station is also checked regularly to make sure that new techniques with sustainable farming are being implemented.
In Kamwangi coffee grows on the slopes of Mount Kenya - the land with extremely favourable coffee growing conditions. Its volcanic soil, which is young and very rich in organic material, produces unique Kenyan taste profiles.
In this coffee we find outstanding notes of black currant and nectarine, its pleasant acidity is balanced with sweetness of honey in our cup. The beans are roasted for filter.
