This unique coffee blend comes from 10-15 small farmers near the village of La Higuera in the province of Colasay in northern Peru. The Colasay region fascinates us with its diverse flavor profiles and enormous potential.
The La Higuera project stands for community value creation and was developed in collaboration with Nordic Approach and Origin Coffee Lab. This particular blend is categorized as 'Floral' in Peru, indicating clean, complex and elegant washed coffees with floral, berry and stone fruit notes.
The Colasay project focuses on farmers from small villages in the Colasay district in the province of Jaen in northern Peru. The aim is to invest in this region by developing small plots for community growers.
The Origin Coffee Lab includes coffees from micro-lots or blends from local producers in the areas around Jaen and San Ignacio. The farms are usually between 1 and 3 hectares in size and are run by family businesses. The producers harvest, pulp, ferment and dry the coffees on their farms and invest in their production to create high-quality coffees.
Most of the coffees come from small villages in La Coipa, Colasay, San Ignacio and other promising locations identified through selective cupping. The export partners maintain close relationships with the growers, supporting them with quality standards, traceability programs and premiums to ensure sustainable supply and incentives for investment.
